With Milan already out of the Champions League and Coppa Italia and nine points below Inter in Serie A, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Rossoneri are unlikely to confirm Stefano Pioli for 2024-25.

Atalanta eliminated Milan from the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Wednesday, beating the Rossoneri 2-1 at San Siro.

It was a disappointing result for fans and club directors who had already seen the Diavoli eliminated from the Champions League in December 2023.

Although Pioli’s contract expires in June 2025, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Italian tactician and Milan will likely part ways at the end of the season.

The report claims club directors will only take a final decision in springtime, but this season’s inconsistent results will probably lead to the coach’s departure in the summer.

Milan directors are disappointed not only by the results but also by the recurrent injuries suffered by players this term. The Rossoneri already had 33 physical problems in 2023-24, and Pioli and his staff are responsible in the club’s eyes.

The Rossoneri currently sit third in the Serie A table but are nine points below leaders Inter. This means that Europa League may be their only achievable target in the second part of the campaign.
