The club is in turmoil after President Yonghong Li defaulted on his debts, so US hedge fund Elliott Management repossessed his assets.

It’s believed they will put in a new Board of Directors on July 21, which could include former Coach and player Leonardo.

“We want to clarify our position with regards to the developments of the last few weeks,” read the Curva Sud statement.

“We are not economists or financial experts, we are ultras, and as such care about our Milan. We simply ask for respect and commitment for this jersey.

“We’ve had the chance during pre-season training to reaffirm our support for the team (and anyone who wants to leave should do so as soon as possible), to our great Coach and to Mirabelli, for whom we have great respect and admiration for their transparency and professionalism.

“It is beyond doubt that once Mirabelli and Gattuso started working together, we saw that winning mentality that only increases the regrets over the first part of last season.

“Transforming everything now would be counter-productive. We can only ask the new owners to look at Rossoneri history, not forgetting what people like Leonardo have done, which is to only spit upon these colours.

“We need men with proven faith in Milan and Leonardo is not one of them, having chosen to betray the Rossoneri population.

“As with all revolutions, we know it will take time and we need consistency to make the transformation as rapid as possible, renewing faith in those who have done well up to now, such as Gattuso and Mirabelli.

“We trust other roles will be assigned to people who are competent and possibly love Milan.”

The statement goes out of its way not to mention current CEO Marco Fassone, who the ultras see as representative of the mysterious Yonghong Li era and the failure to get a Financial Fair Play agreement with UEFA.

As for Leonardo, he was a player at Milan and then a Coach, but his decision to become Coach of rivals Inter in 2010-11 infuriated many.
