Milan are ready to give in on Malick Thiaw after Schalke 04 demanded almost double their €6.5m offer, focusing everything on Sven Botman from Lille in the summer.

Italian sources stated yesterday that Thiaw had become the latest target to reinforce the defence not just in the current campaign during Simon Kjaer’s injury, but also the future of the club.

According to German newspaper Bild, the Rossoneri have seen their €6.5m including bonuses proposal rejected, as Schalke director Rouven Schroder is only prepared to let Thiaw go for at least €10m.

Considering he is only 20 years old, Milan are now leaning towards putting all their eggs in the Botman basket.

While the 22-year-old Netherlands international will not leave Lille in the January transfer window, there are growing reports that Milan have agreed basic terms with both his club and the player for a €30m switch in the summer.

Botman has already turned down Newcastle United, as he wants a more ambitious club who can be in the Champions League.

Milan director Paolo Maldini repeatedly warned they will not sign someone in January just to plug gaps, but want a defender capable of building the future of this side for several years.

  1. Good. Now bring in an attacking midfielder instead, even temporarily. Bring back Adli at least. Just do something there.

Hell, I even prefer playing Kessie instead of Diaz. He was far more effective in that position the one time he played there.

  2. Yes try Kessie there

2% chance he is good there and club offers him more than 5.8, as ACMs are more expensive anyway

Donnarumma was dumb, financial suicide for Milan
    But Kessie hurts

  3. Waste of money. Renew Romagnoli. Don’t spend 30m on a defender we don’t need. The use that money more wisely on an AM, RW, and ST.

  4. Stop this nonsense of a new defender. It reeks of desperation and teams are trying to bend us over & take advantage. Ride Gabbia, Kalulu, Romagnoli till the wheels fall off.
