Milan have unexpectedly become interested in the possibility of signing Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina according to reports from Tuttomercato on Monday afternoon.

The Rossoneri continue to evaluate potential replacements for Sandro Tonali, who is expected to be officially unveiled as a Newcastle player in the near future.

According to Monday’s reports, Tuttomercato claim that Milan fully expect Amrabat to leave Fiorentina this summer and as a result, are making a ‘concrete’ evaluation of the player, and could make the first official approach to the relevant parties in the coming days.

Rocco Comisso, President of Fiorentina, is thought to value Amrabat in the region of €30m, although the Tuscans are yet to receive an official offer from any interested club.

Amrabat, who drew global attention for his performances on the way to the 2022 World Cup quarter-final in Qatar with Morocco, had been on the verge of joining Barcelona in January, although that deal fell through after the Catalans were only able to offer a loan with an option to buy.

More recently, there have been reports linking Amrabat with a move to Atletico Madrid, with a number of Premier League clubs having also previously expressed an interest.
