Noa Lang, Nicolò Zaniolo and Marco Asensio are among Milan’s options at right-wing, while Junior Messias or Alexis Saelemaekers could follow Samu Castillejo out of the club.

The Rossoneri are looking to bolster Stefano Pioli’s options in attack and want to add more quality on the right, where Messias and Saelemaekers shared the starting spot in 2021-22.

Lang is believed to be their primary target. The 22-year-old is open to joining the Rossoneri who could sign the versatile winger for circa €20m. However, Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Real Madrid’s Asensio is also an option for the Serie A champions, adding that Paolo Maldini has recently called Carlo Ancelotti to sound out the Spaniard’s availability.

Nicolò Zaniolo has also been linked with a move to San Siro, but Roma want at least €40-50m to sell the Italy international.

Milan ahead of Arsenal and Man Utd in race for Asensio as Maldini calls Ancelotti

Calciomercato.com reports that Milan will listen to offers for Saelemaekers, but the future of Messias is also up in the air. The Brazilian joined Milan on loan with a €5.5m option to buy from Crotone last summer and the Rossoneri are trying to lower the Rossoblu’s economic demands. Newly-promoted Monza are among the clubs interested in Messias. Their coach Giovanni Stroppa already coached the Brazilian at Crotone two years ago.

One of them is expected to leave and the same is true of Castillejo. The 27-year-old only played five games in 2021-22 and the Rossoneri are determined to sell him during the summer.

4 thought on “Milan transfers: three options at right-wing and two possible departures”
  1. Any one of those three are OK I think, but for the right price. Zaniolo for 30-35m max (risk of injury) or Asensio for 20-25m max imo (one year remaining contract and older than the other two) are good options.

Lang for the rumored 22m seems fair considering his age and potential, although there is the issue of his best position and attitude to consider.

I’d keep Saelemaekers instead of Messias for sure.

  2. Zaniolo is not a winger. The other two are very good options. I would personally go with Asensio, because Lang is more of a left winger. But he’s very good too. If we’re going to spend 30 for Asensio then perhaps it’s better to give 20 for Lang.

We should keep Mesias as a backup for whoever arrives.

We should also keep Alexis and use him as a backup for Calabria, as this is his natural position. The one that should go is Florenzi.

  3. Rather sell Alexis think he’s useless in most roles he’s a waste of space on the field, I would take messias over him he scores goals and still is a good back up on the wing. Alexis is just a useless player can’t finish and can’t cross, how the hell is he even a winger lol.

  4. Give Alexis some more time and trust. Tactically he is intelligent (trust me i rarely find anyone like that in Serie A, he plays somewhat like Bayern’s Mueller), and technically he is gifted. He has only 2 issues: consistency, and composure in finishing, which can be improved over time.
