Paolo Maldini has extended his contract with Milan. Here’s his shopping list for the summer.

The legendary defender committed his future to the club, signing a contract extension just hours before midnight when his previous deal was due to expire.

This means that he and Ricky Massara will remain in charge of the Diavoli’s transfers, although owners Elliott will have the final say on every negotiation until September.

Maldini’s priority was to sign Sven Botman, but the club didn’t match Newcastle’s €40m bid, so the Dutch defender moved to St. James’ Park.

Owners believe that the priority is to bolster Stefano Pioli’s attack, so the majority of investments will be made in the final third.

Club Brugge starlets Charles De Ketelaere and Noa Lang are long time-targets of the Serie A giants. The first one plays mainly as an attacking midfielder and costs €40m, the second has a €20-22m price tag and can cover multiple roles in attack, but he is primarily a right winger.

Football Italia understands that Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech and Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio are also being monitored by Milan for the right flank, while Paulo Dybala is an option for the attack, provided that La Joya lowers his salary demands.

Maldini still want to sign a new centre-back but may need to go for a cheaper option and both Abdou Diallo and Francesco Acerbi are monitored by the Serie A giants.

The Rossoneri won’t go for a new centre-forward unless Ante Rebic leaves. Divock Origi has already undergone his medical with the Rossoneri, while Alessandro Florenzi will make his loan move from Roma permanent.

  1. Any combination of these attacking players would work for me. My preference is CDK/Asensio as I think this is the best combination of future talent and experience. But any set of two would make me happy. It’s the two positions we really need to improve in. Diallo or Acerbi for CB? Sure. The latter will be more of a backup, but that’s totally fine as I have confidence in Tomori-Kalulu until it’s proven they’re not good enough. The most important thing is to actually get people in. Let’s get it done.

  2. We really, really need a quality trequartista and right winger. If we can get good quality players for those roles, anything else is a bonus. If we do not, then it will be yet another year of the side being let down by those playing in those roles, who are just not good enough.

  3. The management should reward supporters who went miles and filled the stadium after stadium last year, and also the Pioli and the players who showed fires with their spirits despite the low expectation and boost their odds by adding new quality players

  4. One other thought, who is going to replace the hole left by Kessie. He pretty much played 90 mins in ever game at CDM, a few at ACM . Tonali is great but if we are in CL and Serie A plus cups even he will need a break ?

  5. @Acemilan
Pobega will presumably get minutes in CM but we do need another for sure. Renato Sanches still looks possible despite the stories flying around.
