Milan are set to play Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Gamper Trophy on August 6 after Roma infuriated the Blaugrana by pulling out.

The Giallorossi were originally announced as the opponents for the traditional pre-season fixture, but suddenly terminated the contract.

It prompted Barca to threaten legal action, then reports emerged that Roma were urged to back out by Paris Saint-Germain as part of a wider on-going battle between the clubs who pushed for the Super League and those who were not involved.

Now multiple reports suggest Milan have been invited to replace Roma in the Gamper Trophy and will play at Camp Nou on August 6.

They also have a Women’s team, which would allow for the original plan of a double match of the women’s teams first and the men’s sides in the later kick-off.

Milan’s friendlies so far are against FC Koln on July 16, Zalaegerszegi on July 23 and Olympique Marseille on July 31.
