Milan are reportedly ready to pounce for Jack Wilshere if he fails to sign a new contract with Arsenal.

Wilshere’s contract expires at the end of the season, and while the midfielder was ‘hopeful’ of signing an extension, he admitted Arsene Wenger’s impending exit had ‘changed things a bit’.

“We are still in the same position really. Not much has changed. We are still talking,” he told Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday.

“Obviously the boss has left which has changed things a little bit because I don’t know who is going to be the manager next year and that can change things.

“But we are still talking and I am hopeful and the club is hopeful we can get something done.”

That has prompted Calciomercato.com to describe the Englishman as ‘the ideal profile on an economic level’ for Milan, given he could be available on a free transfer.

Furthermore, Rossoneri boss Gennaro Gattuso would have been impressed with the 26-year-old when Arsenal knocked his side out of the Europa League at the last-16 stage.
