Milan seem intent on activating their option to buy Junior Messias after a mixed first season on loan from Crotone, while Brahim Diaz could also remain from Real Madrid.

The Rossoneri are trying to build for the future and strengthen their squad, but at the same time don’t want to dismantle the side that won the Scudetto.

Divock Origi is already secured as a free agent from Liverpool, while advanced negotiations are on-going with Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches from Lille.

According to Sky Sport Italia, despite some misgivings, Milan do seem ready to purchase Messias outright from Crotone for €5.4m.

They had already paid €2.6m for the one-season loan from Crotone and he contributed six goals with three assists in 32 competitive matches for the Rossoneri.

Meanwhile, Diario AS maintain Milan will also continue with Brahim Diaz for the two-year loan that expires in June 2023.

There had been suggestions the Spain international would be returned early, as his form fell away badly after a bout of COVID-19.

Milan have an option to buy in 2023 for €22m, while Real Madrid have a counter-option worth €27m.

6 thought on “Milan to keep Messias and Brahim Diaz”
  1. Hope that doesn’t mean Saelemaekers is on the way out.

Its not really news about Diaz, the kid is contracted to Milan until next summer. Hope he can get his form back from the start of the season.

  2. I’m not a fan of Diaz but there’s no harm in keeping him another season for depth as long as we bring another great player for that position.

This will stunt D.Maldini’s growth though, so either he goes somewhere for experience or Diaz should return to Madrid.

Buying Messias either means they’re gonna trade him for another player or Saelemaekers is up for sell.

  3. 8m for Messias is fair. When you see guys like Frostardeschi earn 5m a year and was bough by huge figures, you appreciate players like Junior. For me it is ok to keep him as well as Diaz

  4. I keep him for sure. Keep the stability in the team and don’t change the winning team too much.
Just improve it in several areas.
Last season he didn’t join the pre-season, so hopefully this year he can get even better with the tactics of the team.
This can happened to young or old player. Look at Tonali. last season he was not what we hoped for since he didn’t join the pre-season.
I’m not saying Mesias will become the key player for us next season, but he sure have something more to offer.
I agree with Putuco, 8M in total is fair while his salary is also cheap, he also represent some kind of fairy tales in football world that I appreciate too.
Keep him since we have many agenda next season and Pioli has been doing good rotating the players,
Serie A, Champions League and yeah, coppa, why not.
