Milan are set to sign Marco Sportiello from Atalanta as a free agent and are expected to finalise the deal with the player’s agent Beppe Riso this week.

The Italian goalkeeper’s contract runs out in June and the Rossoneri are in advanced talks to finalise his signature in the coming days.

According to Calciomercato.com, Paolo Maldini will meet the player’s agent Riso this week. Sportiello, 30, will sign a three-year deal at San Siro, joining the team as a free agent in the summer.

Sportiello will replace Ciprian Tatarusanu, who will leave Milan at the end of his contract in June.

The 36-year-old is the Diavoli’s second-choice goalkeeper and has conceded 12 goals in 12 appearances this season, keeping four clean sheets. He replaced Mike Maignan last month after the France keeper suffered a calf injury while on international duty in September.

Sportiello, a former Frosinone, Fiorentina and Carpi goalkeeper has kept 50 clean sheets in 190 Serie A games, conceding 259 goals in Italy’s top flight.
