Multiple reports suggest Rafael Leao will announce the new contract extension with Milan tomorrow, even though it was agreed last month.

The club directors had hinted repeatedly that the deal had been struck and Sportitalia maintain the basic documentation was already signed circa three weeks ago, specifically on the night of the Champions League semi-final first leg against Inter.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia, MilanNews.it and more, the formal announcement will be made on Friday June 2.

It is a new five-year deal with a significant salary bump to €5m per season plus bonuses, with a release clause believed to be in the region of €175m.

The negotiations were aided by LOSC agreeing to cover much of the fine that FIFA ordered Leao to pay against Sporting CP for unilaterally terminating his contract with them to join the French side.

Leao was named Serie A MVP for the 2021-22 campaign, which saw the Rossoneri win the Scudetto after a decade, and his contract had been due to expire in June 2024.
