Imminent new Milan coach Paulo Fonseca could look to Brighton and Hove Albion for reinforcements in defence, targeting ex-Fiorentina man Igor.

The Portuguese tactician should be announced next week as the heir to Stefano Pioli and he has plans to revamp the squad.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his candidates to bolster the defence include Brazilian centre-back Igor.

He is familiar to Serie A, having played for SPAL and Fiorentina until the €16.15m plus bonuses transfer to Brighton in the summer of 2023.

Serie A familiar to Igor

Igor made 33 competitive appearances for the Seagulls this season under Roberto De Zerbi.

His contract runs to June 2027 with an option to extend for a further year and he can also play at left-back when needed.

The cost of the deal would be in the region of €20m, although it is likely that Milan would try to engineer a loan with option to buy at the end of the season first.

  1. Ok, now I know Milan won’t do much next season + there is a chance they won’t make the Champions League spot either.

I’m shocked that they go for Igor🤦‍♂️
