Milan are being heavily linked with a summer swoop for Jovic, but they might have been put off by an injury to the Serb.

A medical report on Real Madrid’s official website reads he suffered ‘an extra-articular fracture in the calcaneus bone of his right foot’.

AS estimates a recovery time of around two months, while Mundo Deportivo warns it could be nearer to three.

As per Marca, Jovic sustained the injury at home, shortly after he returned to the Spanish capital from Serbia.

Madrid paid Eintracht Frankfurt €60m for his services last summer, but he scored just two goals in 24 games before the season stopped in March.

The 22-year-old was also recently reported by Serbian police for breaking lockdown rules to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday.
