Milan are in negotiations with Monaco for left-back Fode Ballo-Toure, according to multiple reports in Italy and France.

Sky Sport Italia and Milannews.it maintain the talks are still at an early stage and there is no agreement, either for personal terms or the transfer fee.

However, the Rossoneri are hopeful they’ve found the understudy to Theo Hernandez on the left side of defence.

The proposal is believed to be a loan with option to buy for €4m, while Monaco want either a higher fee or for some commitment to the purchase.

Indeed, RMC Sport transfer expert Loic Tanzi maintains Monaco are already close to his replacement, getting Ismail Jakobs from FC Koln.

Ballo-Toure is a 24-year-old Senegal international with four caps to his name who was born and raised in France.

He made the move from Lille to Monaco in January 2019 for €11m and provided five assists in his 29 competitive appearances during the 2020-21 season.
