Milan started American pair Yunus Musah and Christian Pulisic in their Champions League draw with Borussia Dortmund, setting an interesting record for Italian teams.

The Rossoneri under new owners Gerry Cardinale and RedBird were incredibly active in the summer transfer window, spending over €100m on various reinforcements like Tijjani Reijnders, Samuel Chukwueze, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Musah and Pulisic.

Milan under Cardinale are keen to grow in the American market and carried out their pre-season tour in the United States this summer. Other work has been carried out by RedBird, including a deal with Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network, which also allows fans to buy Rossoneri gear at the Yankee Stadium.

As highlighted by TMW, Milan became the first Italian team to play two American players at the same time in the Champions League when Stefano Pioli started Musah and Pulisic against Borussia Dortmund.

With Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah both in Turin, Juventus could also achieve this should they qualify for next season’s Champions League.
