Payment is aided by the fact Genoa still owe Milan €11m for Gianluca Lapadula, who arrived last season on loan with option to buy.

The two clubs regularly work together to exchange players, most recently Andrea Bertolacci.

Laxalt scored four goals and provided three assists in 34 competitive games for Genoa last term.

He also impressed at the World Cup for Uruguay over the summer.

It's reported Milan want Laxalt because summer signing Ivan Strinic, a free agent from Sampdoria, is injured.
