Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez were dropped against Lazio, came off the bench to combine for the Milan equaliser after 30 seconds, then refused to get involved in Paulo Fonseca’s team talk.

Leao and Theo Hernandez snub Fonseca

The pair had a frankly eventful introduction at the Stadio Olimpico this evening, not all of it positive.

Almost immediately after coming on, Leao made a darting run down Milan’s left flank, combining with Theo Hernandez and debutant Tammy Abraham, before smashing the goal past Ivan Provedel from the edge of the six-yard box.

Play stopped for a cooling break after the celebrations. Both coaches took the opportunity to give tactical instructions to their players on the touchline.

Leao and Theo Hernandez were the only two players from either side who did not join the rest of their teammates for the mid-game debrief. Instead, they waited on the left flank, on the opposite side of the pitch from Fonseca and his staff, and waited for the game to restart.

The equaliser settled the scores at 2-2, and the Rossoneri were able to hang on for a point for the remaining 20 minutes.

6 thought on “Milan stars Leao and Theo Hernandez snub Fonseca after Lazio equaliser”
  1. Fonseca doesn’t have the credentials, charisma and character to manage these players…. This team needs real professional and a winner not some person with Ukrainian and ligue 1 achievement…

  2. Fonseca, Ibra, Furlani, Moncada and the Cardinale need to leave asap. And ideally kondogbia 2.0 aka Fofana.

  3. Chukwueze – this guy is a professional at giving balls away. That’s it. Nothing else. How he plays for a team higher than serie b is beyond me.

  4. Milan bought new players and coach only for one reason, cheap.
Inter have the same problem and will be in trouble once current squad fades.
Serie A needs Middle East investors and reduces to 18 teams. What they did to the club brought in CR9 was ridiculous. CR9 was the only great thing in the last decade.

  5. Hilarious behavior from the two primadonnas… after an equalizer.

Did they win the game? Did they do anything else well the rest of the game?

Had they delivered in the first two games, so their exclusion seemed unfair?

I’d bench them again next game. If they can’t produce from the first minute in attack and spend 90 minutes NOT tracking back, they don’t deserve the short they’re wearing.

The fact they think they don’t need to pull along with the other players and can skip team talks shows they have no interest in being part of the team.
Of course, ownership is at fault for building a team around players as weak as these two. They are not ready or willing to carry a team of Milans stature

  6. We don’t need a coach who wants to advance his own ideas; we need a coach who can use to the best advantage the players we have.
