There’s pressure from Italian media on Milan starlet Charles De Ketelaere who hasn’t yet found the net in 11 appearances across all competitions this season.

The 21-year-old was Milan’s big summer signing. The Serie A champions needed a new attacking midfielder, so they secured the services of the Belgium international for €32m plus add-ons.

Stefano Pioli has gradually included him in the starting XI, but the ex-Club Brugge man has only delivered an assist in 11 appearances this season. Almost all Italian sports papers have an article about CDK today, two days after their 3-0 loss against Chelsea in the Champions League.

La Gazzetta wrote that his performance against the Blues at Stamford Bridge was ‘the worst of the season’ for the 21-year-old, who is not sure about a starting spot against Juventus tomorrow.

Gazzetta highlighted how fans on social media have been complaining about the starlet for the first time since the start of the season.

Likewise, Il Corriere Dello Sport analysed that Milan are ‘waiting’ for the 21-year-old, while the political paper Il Corriere Della Sera wrote that CDK ‘must wake up’ and ‘quickly understand that he is at Milan.’

Italy World Cup Winner Marco Tardelli added in his column for La Stampa that the Rossoneri lost against Chelsea also due to De Ketelaere’s poor performance.

  1. He’s already played a pretty big role in some crucial goals so I’m really not sure what people are expecting. Personally I find him less frustrating than Diaz. Relax.

  2. I feel sorry for Adli who has barely played. We really don’t need 3 players for every position. Dest is the worst signing for me. Not only has he been terrible but he’s limited Gabbia’s games (Kalulu could’ve been moved to RB). It’s not about these perfectly formed squads. Stones has been playing CB and RB for Man City. Familiarity is key.

  3. I read somewhere he on average provides the highest number of scoring chances per game at 3. I’d give him time, a lot of our players didn’t start out strong – Tonali, Leao, Kessie, Bennacer, Theo etc.

  4. Nothing to worry about. Let’s not forget that he is 21 and not every kid is going to settle right away. I think there is more pressure on him as Kvara (who is another young player having their debut season) is finding Serie A like a duck to water. If we’re patient with Leao, we would be patient with CDK.

  5. He’s not playing well. We have no right wingers right now. Play him RW, problem temporarily solved. Diaz at 10. Thanks for reading, Mr. Pioli.

  6. CALMAAA!!!

Remember when Leao first arrived. Remember when a young Cristiano arrived in that limey north west dump. Fergie corrected his game and he needs more time. New country and greater expectations but not to forget he is very young and raw. At least he does not have PhD Mozart guiding him. Now that would be career over.
