Milan left-back Theo Hernandez has opened the scoring for France in the World Cup semi-final, the first goal that an opponent has scored against Morocco in this tournament.

Antoine Griezmann had got down the right and pulled back for Kylian Mbappé, his shot was charged down by desperate defending, but it fell to Theo Hernandez for an acrobatic finish at the back post.

He managed to steer it into the net with a scissor-kick despite there being two defenders on the line.

Theo Hernandez is the first opponent to score a goal against Morocco in the 2022 World Cup, as they had only previously conceded with an own goal by Nayef Aguerd in the 2-1 group phase win over Canada.

He was originally not meant to be in the starting XI for France, but replaced his brother Lucas Hernandez, who sustained a serious knee injury in the opening game.

After two assists, now Theo Hernandez also has his first goal at the World Cup.
