Milan fell to a 1-0 defeat against Barcelona at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in their third pre-season friendly of the summer.

A second half moment of individual magic from Ansu Fati was enough to settle the scores in Barca’s favour.

The Rossoneri are without a win during the off-season, having recorded a 3-2 loss over Real Madrid and a 2-2 draw with Juventus, which the Bianconeri later won on penalties.

Stefano Pioli handed starts to new signings Ruben Loftyus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders and Christian Pulisic, whilst Luca Romero was brought on as a second-half substitute.

It took Milan 17 minutes to register arguably their finest chance of the game through Reijnders, who was freed after a nice exchange between Loftus-Cheek and Olivier Giroud. His shot was ultimately saved by Inaki Pena.

Pulisic then found Fikayo Tomori from the resulting corner, but his header was deflected over the bar.

Barcelona had their fair share of chances, too, and by half-time, the game had been relatively even.

Xavi called for wholesale changes to his team at the interval, and later saw the results as two substitutes combined for the game’s only goal. Alejandro Balde found Fati, who took the ball past Alessandro Florenzi and was able to finish past Mike Maignan in the Milan net.

Reijnders received individual praise from the Italian press, particularly from La Gazzetta dello Sport, as did Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan.

There were, however, less favourable ratings for Tomori, Florenzi and Theo Hernandez.
