Rafael Leao was targeted by a racist Milan fan on Instagram so the Rossoneri sent a message to support their star on X: ‘In our fanbase and in football, there’s no room for racism.’

Milan reacted to a racist message received by their star striker Rafael Leao on social media on Tuesday.

The racist message had previously been shared by Leao in an Instagram story.

It was written in Italian and read: “I can no longer see you. I can no longer tolerate you. With you on the pitch, I am becoming racist. Go away as soon as possible, you and your followers.”

Leao commented on the same Instagram story in Portuguese: “Unfortunately, there are still these small-minded in the world.”

A few minutes later, Milan also showed their support for Leao with a post on X, formerly Twitter: “We stand with you. In our fanbase and in football, there’s no room for racism.”

The incident comes just a month after Milan keeper Mike Maignan left the pitch after receiving racist insults in an away 3-2 win over Udinese.

Leao has seven goals and eight assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this season. His contract at the Stadio Meazza runs out in June 2028.
