Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury could push Milan onto the transfer market for a striker, with options including Olivier Giroud, Luka Jovic, Odsonne Edouard and Gianluca Scamacca.

The Rossoneri had set aside €15m for their transfer budget in January and it was meant to be for a centre-back, as Simon Kjaer has proved to be irreplaceable so far.

However, Ibrahimovic sustained a new muscular injury that is expected to keep him out of action for a month, so the focus has turned to a striker as well.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are prepared to battle Inter for Chelsea veteran Giroud, who continues to bang in the goals with alarming regularity, despite not being first choice at Stamford Bridge.

Tuttosport are confident the Rossoneri will instead aim for a paid loan deal in order to get someone more experienced to fill the gaps, hoping to later negotiate a permanent switch.

The candidates mentioned by the newspaper include Celtic forward Edouard, who faced them in the Europa League, Real Madrid benchwarmer Jovic and even Italy Under-21 international Scamacca.

This last one might be tricky, as Scamacca is already on loan from Sassuolo to Genoa and scored six goals in 11 competitive games so far this season.
