Milan are still rapidly searching for a new defender and they’ve reportedly reignited their interest in Schalke’s Malick Thiaw.

The Rossoneri are considering a number of options as they look to reinforce Stefano Pioli’s backline, with ideas ranging from Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga to Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, and they’ll need to make a move fast as the summer transfer window quickly draws to a close.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan had their sights set on Thiaw earlier this year before changing attention to then-Lille defender Sven Botman, and now they’re reignited their interest in the 21-year-old German centre back.

Contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2024, Thiaw impressed across his 31 league appearances last season for Schalke, scoring two goals and showing his defensive qualities. He seems ready for the jump to a bigger club and Milan may be the perfect option, adding another talented youngster to Pioli’s squad.

The Rossoneri will have to make a decision soon as the transfer window ends in less than a week now.

  1. I love Milan, but they really are starting to panic now they’ve left it right to the end of the transfer window to sure things up.

and when you rush, you panic and make mistakes.

These roles should have been sorted weeks ago.
