The Diavolo had a little more leeway regarding their Financial Fair Play violations after they agreed to miss out on European competition this coming season and could potentially splash the cash on the 22-year-old.

The Real Betis youth team product joined Los Blancos for €16.5m in 2017, but he has failed to earn a regular starting place during his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Elliot Management will end the 2018-2019 financial year between €90m-€100m in the red, and they will have to get that down to €30m by next season.

However, there is no immediate need to sell off their prized asset Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain, and they could potentially be able to make at least one big money signing this summer.
