Milan failed to convince Youri Tielemans to make the jump to Serie A but have started gearing up to make a move on an alternative to the Belgian, Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka.

The Rossoneri, fresh off the back of technical director Paolo Maldini’s dismissal, are preparing for an important summer transfer window, aware that they barely crept into the top four spots in Serie A this season.

One area of the squad that Milan are keen to strengthen is the midfield and they presented a €3m net per season offer to Tielemans, but the Belgian decided to stay in the Premier League and join Aston Villa, forcing the Rossoneri to look around for alternatives.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan have set their sights on Chukwuemeka, a player they wanted to sign last year before losing out to Chelsea.

The 19-year-old Englishman is liked by the Rossoneri for his technique and tactical flexibility, making him one of their top targets for this summer. The hope is to pick up the teenager on a loan deal with a buy option attached.

Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani will look to make a move for Chukwuemeka next week, keen to add the talented midfielder to Stefano Pioli’s squad.
