Milan are ready to welcome Manchester City target Matija Popovic and are now in the process of working out the final details.

The 17-year-old Serbian forward impressed at the Under-17 European Championship back in May, impressing both the Rossoneri and the Premier League giants. Over the last seven months, Milan have remained in constant contact with his entourage.

Popovic is now a free agent after his contract expired with FC Partizan and Milan have prepared a five-year contract for the talented teenager, keen to welcome him in the Lombardy capital.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Milan are in the closing stages of the deal for Popovic, needing to wait until he turns 18 on January 8 before they can lock him down to a five-year deal. His arrival takes up one of the much-coveted non-EU player slots in the squad.

The situation is extremely delicate, as Manchester City could try to snatch the Serbian teenager after he turns 18 in the coming days, but the Rossoneri are confident that everything will be completed in the early stages of next week.
