Rafael Leao’s entourage are ready to discuss a new contract with Milan in their meeting today, reports detail.

The 23-year-old Portuguese forward’s current contract expires in 2024 and the club are desperate to tie him down to a new deal, not wanting to lose the player in the next 18 months. Chelsea emerged late in the summer to register their interest in Leao but Milan made it clear that he wasn’t for sale, and now a new contract is the next step.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the key meeting between Milan and Leao’s entourage will take place today, where the club are likely to propose a lucrative offer, which could sit in the region of around €5-7m net per season.

A key element is the compensation Leao owes to Sporting Lisbon, around €20m. The club could offer to help the 23-year-old pay this fee or they could simply adjust their salary offer to reflect the issue, but regardless it’s an important consideration for both parties.
