The next month will be decisive for Rafael Leao and Milan as the two parties reportedly prepare to open a new round of contract renewal talks in the coming days.

Rossoneri director Paolo Maldini was clear when speaking to the media before the Champions League loss to Chelsea yesterday, saying the club wanted to tie down the Portuguese forward to a new contract before the upcoming World Cup. Milan’s last game before the tournament is against Fiorentina on November 13 and the hope is that a new contract will be agreed by then.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan will open a new round of talks with Leao’s entourage in the coming days, keen to start a long set of negations. The two parties will have to iron out many details, from the salary and release clause to the 23-year-old’s legal battle with Sporting.

Leao’s current contract expires in 2024 and Chelsea have long had their sights on the 23-year-old, so they’re following the situation closely.

  1. No input when out of possession for ninety five percent of the two matches vs Chelsea! No will or fight to help out his teammates!
