Milan will open talks with Roberto De Zerbi in the coming days after his decision to leave Brighton, changing plans in the Lombardy capital.

The 44-year-old Italian coach surprised the Seagulls fans last week when he publicly confirmed his exit from the club at the end of this Premier League season, having failed to find common ground with owner Tony Bloom ahead of the summer transfer window.

Milan have long been searching for a new head coach to replace Stefano Pioli and had briefly considered De Zerbi but were turned off by his €13m release clause. His departure from Brighton via mutual agreement changes things, however, pushing the Rossoneri to alter their plans.

De Zerbi talks

Pages 16 and 17 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Milan have welcomed the news of De Zerbi’s departure from Brighton and will make contact with the coach in the coming days to start discussing a possible move in the summer.

For the time being, Paulo Fonseca is still at the top of the Rossoneri’s wish list, but that could change quickly depending on how the talks with the Italian tactician go.

  1. May the Gods of football make everything to run smoothly, so that we can see De Zerbi at helm of the coaching stuff in our beloved AC Milan!!! HE’S THE MAN WHO WILL TAKE US TO ANOTHER LEVEL, AND TAKE THE VERY BEST OF ALL OUR STAR PLAYERS WHO ARE AT THE CORE OF THIS SQUAD: Benaccer, Leao, Pulisich,
Theo, Reinders, Loftus-Cheek, Noah, etc, etc….
I live for the day when he’ll be announced officially as our new coach!

  2. de zerbi is a serial loser who got figured out in the epl.. he was smashed by a 4 x 0 margin many times this season.. please stay away
