Milan will reportedly meet with Rafael Leao’s entourage next week to offer their latest contract and begin negotiations.

The 23-year-old Portuguese star’s current deal expires with the Rossoneri in 2024 and director Paolo Maldini made it clear earlier this week that the club wanted to tie down the player to a new deal before the World Cup in Qatar kicks off. Chelsea had a late interest in Leao in the summer but Milan made it clear that they didn’t want to lose their star man.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan’s management will meet with Leao’s entourage on Tuesday or Wednesday next week to offer a new deal to the 23-year-old, a five-year contract worth €5m net per season plus settling the €9-10m debt with Sporting.

Rossoneri fans have been anxious regarding Leao’s contract and agreeing a new deal before the World Cup is key for Maldini and Milan.

  1. Is “Chelsea target Leao” his official name now because it seems like thats how you write it in every headline?

  2. I wonder if any other club is offering higher wages in addition to settling what he owes to Sporting?
