Milan are growing increasingly confident about a deal for Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee as they gear up to go all-in on the talented striker.

The Rossoneri’s number one priority for the upcoming summer transfer window is a new centre forward to lead Paulo Fonseca’s frontline, needing a long-term replacement for the Los Angeles FC bound Olivier Giroud.

Whilst a number of targets have been considered, like RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, Zirkzee has continued to convince the Milan directors as the summer fast approaches.

Milan all-in on Zirkzee

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Milan directors Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani believe they’re in pole position in the race for Zirkzee, willing to pay his €40m release clause at Bologna when it activates on July 1st.

With Bayern Munich still focused on other targets, the Rossoneri are confident they can beat out their competition for the Dutch striker. His agent Kia Joorabchian wants around €10-12m in commissions, considered acceptable by Moncada and Furlani.

The plan B for now is still Feyenoord’s Gimenez, who has also attracted attention from the Premier League. The Mexican striker is expected to cost around €40-50m.
