Milan are in close contact with Santiago Gimenez as they look to fend off a growing threat from Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Rossoneri are desperately searching for a new centre forward to bolster their frontline, needing a new number nine following Oliver Giroud’s move to Los Angeles FC. With Paulo Fonseca ready to officially take over, the club are ready to kickstart a new project.

Milan have considered a number of options ahead of the transfer market, including Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, but Gimenez has started to look the most convincing.

Milan fight Liverpool for Gimenez

Page 23 of today’s Tuttosport details how Arne Slot has highlighted Gimenez’s name to Liverpool as he looks to be reunited with the Feyenoord striker, giving Milan serious competition in the summer transfer market.

The Rossoneri have been in close contact with the Mexican forward’s entourage for a while now, aware of his €50m price tag, and believe his salary would be far more affordable than their other targets, considering that he earns around €1.2m net per season in the Eredivisie.
