Milan winger Samuel Castillejo is reportedly close to a return to Spain with Getafe after he agreed personal terms.

The two clubs still have to discuss the transfer fee, but the Rossoneri are eager to get the 26-year-old off their books.

He was signed from Villarreal in 2018 for €21.3m, but largely disappointed at San Siro, contributing 10 goals and 13 assists in 108 competitive appearances.

According to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Getafe have agreed personal terms with Castillejo and will now make a formal offer to Milan over the next few days.

The asking price had been €8-10m, but Getafe hope to take advantage of the need to sell and get him for slightly cheaper.

The 26-year-old is only under contract until June 2023 and had been linked to several other Spanish sides over the summer, including Sevilla, Valencia, Celta Vigo and Real Betis, but he had seemed determined to remain with the Rossoneri.

  1. It is really difficult for me to think of a player who has had so many games in a Milan shirt, and yet failed on such a consistent basis. Calhanoglu? Biglia?
