Milan would appear to be moving forward with their project to build a new stadium in the San Donato area, away from San Siro, as the club purchased land with development already approved.

According to paperwork seen by lawyer Felice Raimondo and Calcio e Finanza, Milan purchased 90 per cent of Sportlifecity, the company that owns the area of land where the new stadium should be constructed.

Previous owners Cassinari and Partners will retain 10 per cent of the company.

The cost of the purchase was circa €3m, after Sportfelicity bought the area of land for €7.2m in June 2023.

The analysis of the contracts by Calcio e Finanza notes that this is a sneaky way for Milan to get around the usual stumbling blocks put in place by local authorities whenever a stadium plan is drawn up.

This is because the area of land has already received the go-ahead for development in the worlds of entertainment and sport, keeping the details relatively vague.

It also includes a clause noting that if Milan do not intend to use the land for a stadium, then club owners RedBird would take over and focus on creating a different development.

San Donato Milanese is circa 10km from the city of Milan, but is already connected by a train and underground station.

Unlike the previous project, this stadium would be just for Milan and not shared with Inter.
