Milan have pulled out of negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Abdou Diallo, claim reports in Italy, as they do not feel it is a good fit.

The Rossoneri are still seeking a new centre-back to replace Alessio Romagnoli, who joined Lazio as a free agent.

Diallo had emerged as one of the candidates, who would be arriving on loan with an option to buy, as his contract with the Parisians runs to June 2024.

However, Tuttomercatoweb report that Milan have terminated the discussions because they realised the 26-year-old was not particularly enthusiastic about the idea of coming to San Siro.

His salary also would’ve been a huge problem for Stefano Pioli’s men, as the Senegal international commands a high wage in Paris.

The former Monaco, Mainz and Borussia Dortmund defender is a Senegal international who has also been linked to other clubs including West Ham United.

The Hammers already did business with PSG twice this summer, bringing in Alphonse Areola and Thilo Kehrer.

  1. Might be for the best. Never mind his enthusiasm, too many African players would pose a problem once AFCON comes around, specially players from powerhouse countries like Senegal who tend to go all the way. We’d already lose Bennacer and Adli and that’s two midfielders + Ballo-Toure who is the backup left-back. Losing another defender like Diallo would cause a problem, specially in case Theo is unavailable.

  2. That’s why I’m also not looking forward to Onyedika who is being linked to Milan for the midfield position. He’s a Nigeria international and that means three midfielders out for a month or more in a very delicate time of the season.
