Milan prove themselves to be Napoli’s kryptonite

Milan entered the half-time break of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Napoli 1-0 up, a sign of their unique ability to cause damage to the Serie A league leaders.

The Rossoneri took the lead in the 40th minute in the match after a lashed shot from Ismael Bennacer, stemming from a quick counter-attack by the home side.

A warm-up to this tie came in the form of a meeting in Serie A at the start of this month, which saw Milan fly to a 4-0 win away to Napoli, a result that gave one side confidence and the other anxiety.

Milan have found themselves in a unique position this season. In Napoli’s 39 competitive outings this season, they’ve only went into the half-time break trailing twice – both times against Milan.

Bennacer’s goal was also the first conceded by an Italian side in the Champions League knock-out stages this season, another sign of the Rossoneri’s ability to inflict pain on Luciano Spalletti’s side.
