The Milan prosecutor has requested an international arrest warrant for former Rossoneri striker Robinho following a rape conviction.

The former Milan and Manchester City striker lost his final appeal against a rape conviction in January and faces up to nine years in prison.

The incident happened in Milan in 2013. Robinho and his friend Ricardo Falco were found guilty of the gang rape of a 23-year-old.

The former Brazil striker had insisted it was all ‘consensual,’ but telephone wiretaps and messages presented as evidence saw this defence rejected repeatedly.

According to multiple reports in Italy, the Milan Prosecutor has now asked Brazilian authorities to extradite the 38-year-old to Italy so the ex-Milan striker can serve his nine-year prison sentence.

However, the Brazilian constitution does not allow the extradition of Brazilian citizens, so it’s unlikely that Robinho will ever come to Italy to serve his prison sentence. Robinho left Milan in 2014 after a four-year spell at the club.

  1. If the international arrest warrant is a request for extradition and Brazil don’t extradite its citizens, what is the point in This? Genuinely, I want to know if this moves the process of getting this scumbag to prison.

  2. I read one BBC article that drew comparison between Robinho and another Brazillian footballer Cuca, who was also convicted of rape a minor in 1987. Cuca is now a title winning manager in Brazil and touted to be successor of Tite (their current NT coach). So, yeah I highly doubt Robinho will ever serve his sentence..

  3. How sick must one be to have all the money and fame in the world, basically everything in life, and yet act like this.

  4. @DB Milan Internationl warrant is if he were for example to travel into europe then he will be arrested and extradited to italy.

  5. @Mike
Good point. I just can’t see him doing something as silly as that when he has full protection in Brazil.

  6. @Milan Fan
I agree. and such a shame on the Brazilian government to let a dangerous predator and convicted criminal walks on their land like that over some jurisdiction bureaucracy. I think international case with so much attention like this should be taken seriously by their government. If it somehow reach their president ears, he could use his prerogative.
There could be another victim in the future that discouraged to get advocation by this kind of treatment, or another monster that takes advantage of this mess. Don’t forget about the victim too

  7. At least he can’t set foot in Italy again – in prison or not, he won’t harm any Italian women anymore. Shame to see such a player disgraced, but the world has had enough of this crap. Footballers are not above the law.
