Milan’s negotiations for Emerson Royal reportedly risk falling through as Barcelona are refusing to budge on their €30m asking price.

Emerson is Milan’s first choice to reinforce the right side of defence, following in the footsteps of left-back Theo Hernandez, who signed from Barca’s arch-rivals Real Madrid last summer.

The Brazilian’s representatives were spotted at the Rossoneri’s offices yesterday, in a sign that talks between the two clubs were progressing well.

However, Football Espana warns – as per a report in Mundo Deportivo – that the Blaugrana will not accept any less than €30m for the 21-year-old.

That is because he has played exclusively for Real Betis since January 2019, as part of a complicated co-ownership deal.

Barca have a €6m option to buy him outright next year but will have to spend significantly more to take him back now, only to then move him on again.
