Milan President Paolo Scaroni hopes Paolo Maldini doesn’t look at the past with ‘bitterness’ but hasn’t heard from the ex-defender since he left the club last summer.
Scaroni replied to a question about Maldini during an event organised by Il Foglio in Milan on Wednesday.
The 77-year-old said he hasn’t spoken to the former club director since he left the club barely a year ago.
“I haven’t heard from him. When somebody looks at the past with bitterness, it means that he’s not living the present too well,” said Scaroni as quoted by Milannews.
“I hope this is not Maldini’s case and I wish him a life full of satisfaction.”
Maldini was sacked after the end of the 2022-23 campaign after a meeting at a hotel in Milan city centre with club owner Gerry Cardinale.
Maldini has only released a couple of interviews since leaving the club last summer and has recently been linked with Newcastle United.
Scaroni also discussed Milan’s season and Stefano Pioli’s future, saying that the Italian tactician and the club directors will decide on his future at the end of the campaign.
Milan currently sit second in the Serie A table and their next game is against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
