Milan have presented a contract proposal to highly-rated 17-year-old Serbia talent Matija Popovic according to reports on Friday afternoon.

The youngster is out of contract with his current club Partizan Belgrade on December 31. He has been excluded from the squad for a period of seven months for rejecting Partizan’s contract renewal offer earlier in 2023.

Interest from some of the biggest names in world football is the main reason behind Popovic’s rejection, as the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also keen according to information from Calciomercato.com.

Friday’s update indicates that Milan’s chief scout Geoffrey Moncada met with Popovic’s father earlier in the week and presented a five-year contract.

Calciomercato note that Milan moved early for Popovic and are the first club to have a proper offer on the table.

Though there will need to be time for consideration, there is thought to be cautious optimism coming from the Rossoneri camp.
