Milan prepare squad clear-out

Milan are set for a summer selling spree to cut costs, including Diego Laxalt, Samu Castillejo, Hakan Calhanoglu, Andrea Bertolacci and more.

CEO Ivan Gazidis made it clear he is making sweeping changes to the squad, slicing the wage bill and balancing the books.

Some decisions have already been made, as Ignazio Abate, Cristian Zapata, Jose Mauri, Riccardo Montolivo and Andrea Bertolacci have been simply let go at the end of their contracts.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Calhanoglu is on the market along with Laxalt and Castillejo.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Calhanoglu is on the market along with Laxalt and Castillejo.

The Rossoneri hope to raise at least €15-18m from Calhanoglu’s sale, as he has interest from the Bundesliga.

If the need for fresh funds should be urgent, then the obvious candidate for an exit is Gianluigi Donnarumma.

This is because he would command the highest transfer fee, in excess of €60m, but also represents pure profit as a product of their youth academy.

Pepe Reina and Italy Under-20 international Alessandro Plizzari are already on the books and ready to take over.
