Multiple sources in Italy claim Milan will soon announce Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return.

The former Rossoneri striker has been in talks with owner Gerry Cardinale for several weeks and according to Gazzetta and Calciomercato.com, Ibra’s return to San Siro is just a matter of time now.

Ibrahimovic retired from football at the end of 2022-23, but Cardinale wants to keep him at the club to work in close contact with players and directors.

Thursday’s printed edition of Gazzetta – page 20 – claims Milan could confirm Ibra’s return with an official announcement by the weekend before the Rossoneri’s away Serie A game against Lecce on Saturday.

Calciomercato.com reports Milan are currently finalising the last details before confirming Ibrahimovic’s return to the club.

Both sources say Ibrahimovic will initially be named ‘special counsel’ or ‘external advisor.’

However, he’ll work closely with the team, speaking to Stefano Pioli and his players, and will be a link-up between the squad and club directors.
