The Rossoneri have slipped to seventh in Serie A, meaning they’ll miss out on Europe for a third season in a row if they don’t either catch Sassuolo or win the Coppa Italia.

“The players will be playing for their futures at Milan,” Brocchi declared in his pre-Bologna Press conference.

“Each of them has his own story, but if you want to be a real player you have to show certain things. When I was wearing the Milan shirt I always felt grateful.

“I repeat: I want them to show me tomorrow what they showed me during this week. As long as they do that I’ll always defend them.”

The Diavolo have a mounting injury list, with Jeremy Menez left out of the squad for tomorrow’s game.

“He’s out because of a niggle with his back. Even now it’s causing him problems so he’s not 100 per cent.

“[Giacomo] Bonaventura wasn’t playing much, and from our data we have a tired player. [Ignazio] Abate’s problem is not muscular and Menez has a back injury, which isn’t due to training.

“[Luca] Antonelli didn’t play from the first minute [against Frosinone] because he’d had a particularly emotional week after his wife gave birth.

“I know from experience that there are greater risks with these kind of things, so I wanted to start him from the bench.

“Abate should be back immediately, Bonaventura has already started running and Menez should be back with the group on Monday.

“The only one I can’t tell you anything about is Antonelli.”
