According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana is one of Milan’s summer targets. Given that his contract expires in 2025, his purchase could be relatively cheap.

The Rossoneri are planning to sign a new central midfielder for 2024-25, and they’ve already been linked with Marcus Thuram’s brother Khephren, who is currently under contract with OGC Nice.

According to Gazzetta, another Ligue 1 midfielder is on the Rossoneri’s agenda: Monaco’s Fofana.

The 25-year-old’s contract runs out in June 2025 so the Rossoneri hope to sign the France international for a relatively low fee.

It’s the same strategy they adopted a year ago to sign Christian Pulisic from Chelsea and Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal. Both wingers had a year left in their contracts with their former clubs and Milan persuaded them to sell for circa €20m each rather than lose them for free the following summer.

Fofana has two goals and three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.
