Milan are still seeking a new centre-forward and continue to pursue FC Porto star Medhi Taremi, but failing that Lorenzo Colombo will remain instead.

While Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor could both play as strikers, they are largely considered in wider roles by coach Stefano Pioli.

That leaves Olivier Giroud as the only real option upfront and a forward becomes the final target for a transfer window that has already seen them sign nine new players.

Taremi remains the prime objective, especially as his contract with FC Porto only runs to the end of this season, but it is proving more difficult than expected.

According to O Jogo, Porto only own 85 per cent of his contract, so are not prepared to drop the price below their current valuation of €25-30m.

However, with the Iran international turning 31 last month and down to the final year of his contract, Milan consider this excessive.

Sky Sport Italia report that if Taremi does not arrive, then the Rossoneri are prepared to keep hold of Colombo, who spent last season on loan at Lecce and had been on the verge of a similar switch to Monza this summer.
