Ismael Bennacer is proving himself to be irreplaceable for Stefano Pioli’s Milan and the club are preparing for a new round of contract talks with his agent.
The 25-year-old Algerian midfielder was a key figure in the Rossoneri’s 2-1 win over Salernitana, completing 49 passes, winning three tackles and recovering 13 balls. He is a key creative force in the squad, being a deep-lying playmaker and quietly helping in build-up play.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan do not want to lose Bennacer in the coming months and are keen to tie him down to a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in June 2024. They’ll meet with his agent Enzo Raiola later this month to try and reach an agreement.
The club met with Raiola last month, where they offered a deal worth around €3.8m net per season plus add-ons, but it became clear that they’d need to increase the figures a little, with the Algerian hoping for a salary of €4.5m net including add-ons.
He deserves it. Bennacer and Tonalli are such a strong pairing on midfield.
