Milan are focusing their efforts on bringing in a new defender this month but that doesn’t mean the club have forgotten about their midfield.

The Rossoneri sent Rade Krunic to Fenerbahce on a six-month loan deal with a €3.5m conditional obligation to buy clause attached, linked to the Turkish giants avoiding relegation. Ismael Bennacer is also currently unavailable, taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria.

Stefano Pioli has made it clear that he’d like a new midfielder to arrive this month, giving him a little more flexibility as Milan try to guarantee their top four finish and put together a decent campaign in the Europa League.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan’s management are focused on signing a new defender in the remainder of the January transfer window, evaluating various targets like Lilian Brassier and Jakub Kiwior.

Should a defender arrive soon, the Rossoneri would then look to try and find a new midfielder for Pioli’s squad. They’d only be able to make a loan move, however.
