Milan are looking to strengthen their defence this summer and they’ve decided to make a move for Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga.

The Rossoneri know that Stefano Pioli’s backline needs at least one reinforcement ahead of the upcoming season and one player they’ve been keeping an eye on for a while now is the 23-year-old Tanganga, who missed a large part of last season due to a serious knee injury.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have started talks with Tottenham to discuss a possible loan deal for Tanganga. Should they be given the green light by Spurs, they’d immediately look to start contact with the Englishman’s agent.

The 23-year-old English defender, who is contracted to Tottenham until 2025, only made 11 Premier League appearances last season, making a handful of appearances under Antonio Conte before he suffered the knee injury. He’s a tactically flexible defender who can play as both a centre back and right back.

  1. Tottenham need to fill their home grown quota. Tanganga’s versatility and Conte”s plan for him all suggest he’s likely to stay at the club this season.
