Milan have reportedly decided to enter the race for Lazar Samardzic, opening talks with Udinese on the weekend ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old Serbian midfielder has had a chaotic six months. He was a step away from joining Inter in the summer before everything collapsed at the final hurdle, leaving him in Udine. He has continued performing well, pushing Napoli and Juventus to set their sights on him.

Napoli and Juventus both pushed for a deal with Samardzic this month but Udinese made it clear that they weren’t willing to sell the midfielder until the summer, forcing all the interested parties to wait.

As reported by Sport Mediaset via TMW, Milan decided to talk advantage of their clash with Udinese on Sunday evening in order to open talks for Samardzic, sounding out a possible move in the summer.

The Rossoneri are looking to take advantage of the sale of Charles De Ketelaere to Atalanta, which would bring in €23m that they’d immediately use to invest in Samardzic. Zlatan Ibrahimovic in particular is pushing for the deal.
