Milan are concerned that defender Simon Kjaer could be sidelined with a new injury after concerns were raised in the Denmark camp at the World Cup.

The 33-year-old Danish centre back played 65 minutes of their opener against Tunisia last week but was left on the bench for their key clash with France. Coach Kasper Hjulmand confirmed to the media that Kjaer had a slight injury issue but now there are fears that the Milan defender could miss the final group game against Australia.

As reported by Tuttosport, Kjaer has complained of pains in the flexor of his right thigh, the spot where he suffered an injury back on October 1 against Empoli. That issue left him sidelined for around 20 days, a frustrating blow for the Danish veteran.

Milan are keeping a close eye on the situation but are concerned that the 33-year-old could suffer further issues in the coming weeks, which may affect him for the second half of the Serie A season.

The 33-year-old Kjaer hardly featured last season after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in a win over Genoa in December 2021.
